Zara is a burst of youth, warmth and possibility. Layers of vivid pink, coral, orange, and flashes of yellow collide and overlap, capturing the glorious energy of a long summer day. It's bright, spontaneous and like all good things, not quite ready to end.
Named for the singer Zara Larsson, whose sunny disposition the painting brought to mind, the work began as an experiment with neon-bright acrylics and became something altogether more optimistic.
Amid the colour, a small phrase sits almost unnoticed at the edge: “This is not the end…”
It is both reassurance and promise. However gloomy things might sometimes appear, there is colour still to come; another day, another season, another beginning.
