PLUR stands for Peace, Love, Unity and Respect, a phrase rooted in rave culture and a pretty good philosophy for life. This piece was pure experimentation. I started without a fixed destination, playing with acrylics, layering colour, marks, drips, and texture, and letting the painting become whatever it wanted to become. The result is energetic, messy and joyfully unapologetic. Bright colour jostles with black and white; paint runs where it pleases; unexpected shapes appear and disappear beneath one another. It's also a reminder of something I'm learning through painting: what you start out trying to make may become something entirely different, and no less beautiful for it.
