There is something rather wonderful about a bit of chaos...
I Predict a Riot is an explosion of colour, movement and barely contained mischief. Against a dark, heavily worked background, flashes of neon green, electric blue, hot pink and orange cut across the canvas, dripping, twisting and generally refusing to behave themselves. The title came afterwards. Looking at the finished painting, trying to work out what to call it, the words I Predict a Riot came to mind. And once they were there, they weren't going anywhere.
So I added the lettering at the bottom, pieced together like a ransom note. A little nod to the song, to Manchester's love affair with music, and to the glorious disorder of the painting itself.
It's bold, irreverent and not particularly interested in keeping the peace.
Sometimes, a little disruption is exactly what's needed!
